Pair of T Chairs by Laverne Inc by William Katavolos my grad school professor
William Katavolos and his friend and classmate at Pratt, Douglas Kelley created the T-chair model number 3LC for Mr Kelly’s parent’s house in Buffalo New York in 1952. The final design produced by Laverne is attributed to William Katavolos, Douglas Kelley, Ross Littell and Alton Kelley. Often referred to as the “T” chair because of its T shaped frame and leather sling seat, these chairs are truly a twentieth century design classic. It is made of chrome plated tubular steel with an enameled steel frame, with leather sling seat. This chair is part of the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art.
